Luka Aeterna was born from loss - and from the decision to create something in response to it. During a painful phase of my life, marked by many losses, I found myself standing before a new beginning. Among the many things that were lost were my knives. Instead of replacing them, I decided to forge one myself. What began as a simple necessity became something deeper. In the silence of the workshop, between fire, steel, and rhythmic hammer blows, a conviction began to form: that beauty, craftsmanship, and the act of creating something good can be an answer to pain. For more than two decades, I have worked as a surgical instrument maker with precision, steel, and cutting edges. This knowledge - especially my experience with stainless high-performance steels and their precise treatment - flows into every Luka Aeterna knife, from hand-forged monosteel blades to complex San-Mai constructions. Knives fascinate me because they are among the few objects that unite beauty, usefulness, and joy. They accompany everyday life, are used, valued, and often outlive the people who made them. The first seven knives were created for seven special people. I consciously chose to give them away - made out of love, gratitude, and the hope that my craft would grow and my skills would continue to develop. Each of these knives was at once a gift, a learning process, and a step toward the craft that Luka Aeterna embodies today.
